How congested/busy is Falls of Neuse/Wake Forest rd in the morning @ around 6:45?

I would be coming off of Strickland and taking it down to the beltline. How long do you think it would take to get from Strickland rd. to the beltline via falls of neuse @ 6:45am? I'm assuming that there is not too much traffic, but are there any traffic lights that you have to sit at for a long time? I usually come down Glenwood, but will be changing my route shortly.

Thanks!

That's about a 5 mile drive. At 6:45 on that stretch of Falls of Neuse I would expect it to take 8-10 minutes if you get a green on most of the traffic lights. If the timing is off and you catch a lot of red lights it could take 15 minutes.

FWIW, I don't recall any traffic lights that make you sit for a long long time, but there are a number of traffic lights.

I don't drive that stretch too often at that time of day so I could be wrong. I would give it a shot and see how it works for you. Good Luck!

Thanks NRG. I've driven that route enough, but never at that time since I live in NW Raleigh. I do know that the roads on Wake Forest before it turns into F of N are SOOO narrow! I was thinking it would be about 8-10 minutes, I guess I'll just need to find out when the time comes. I would give you a rep point, but apparently I have to spread some around first

Yeah, so much depends on how lucky you are with the traffic lights. I think there are about 12 lights between Stickland and 440 on that stretch of Falls of Neuse / Wake Forest Road.

I agree, the Wake Forest Road portion is narrow. I heard that when they expanded it to three lanes each way they didn't physically expand the road but instead painted three narrow lanes on each side where previously there were just two. Pretty creative I guess, but at least the tight quarters allow you to pass the
Grey Poupon Mustard from your Rolls Royce to your neighbor's while waiting at the traffic light!

I was telling my wife the other day when we were driving on that road that it probably used to be 2-lanes instead of three and they just narrowed everything down to make it fit...guess I was right! lol We were driving in her little sports car and we barely fit in those lanes. Anyway thanks for your help.

Yep...those lanes ARE narrow. It appears that some folks have problems with their huge SUVs as they move over into your land without actually noticing! I have seen so many traffic accidents on Falls of the Neuse! As long as you stay in the far right lane, you have somewhere to go when the other car starts moving into your lane!
