We are looking to buy a house in North Carolina and one of the city that we are interested is Wake Forest.
I heard about toxic contamination in some part of the Wake Forest and there were details about well water and soil is contaminated (PCB, TCE) and health officials asking public to not use the well water even for bathing. I couldn't find much details but anybody knows more about this.
Are there any particular areas to avoid. Any information is helpful to make the decision.

Just a heads up, the link you posted is from Brier Creek, which is nowhere near Wake Forest.
It also flowed down-creek to Lake Crabtree Lake, which is on the border between Morrisville and Cary. I haven't seen how the cleanup of that area has been progressing - hopefully, good progress has been made.
This is in the Stony Hill Road area, outside of Wake Forest proper but has its mail handled by the Wake Forest postal service. If you are on city water, it is not an issue. If you are on well water, have it tested (which you should do regardless of whether the home you are considering is in the Stony Hill road area or elsewhere.
We live right around the corner from the former electronics company that caused the problem, so had our water tested. Apart from a few extra minerals, it came up clean.
