I am looking for a black hair stylist in Durham,NC. I have relaxed medium-length hair. My hair is very healthy therefore I would like to find a stylist who is concerned about the health of my hair and can also give me a cute style. Please help!

When I was in Durham, I went to Libby's Golden Image. I love her. My hair is medium length and relaxed, and I went to her faithfully every week. Her number is 688-8990

Wow, good to know, I'm relocating next year and I was wondering about a good Dominican Salon. I'm keeping a list.

Being a transplant from NYC I took on your advice and seeked out this place. I passed it several times because its a private house with no signs outside. I went in to find one chair with one person (ana) there. She told me that she charges $100 for a relaxer and $35 for a wash and set. The price for the wash and set is high but understandable given the lack of dominican style salons in Durham. The 100 bucks for a relaxer blew me a way, literally, I walked out. That is too much to pay, especially if you're not sure what you're going to get. I am still in search of a salon that will help me maintain my healthy hair.

I am really glad someone asked this question. It definitely answers some questions for me. How about in Wake County though? Where? Who?

$100?! Well dang, that's way too expensive! I just moved to the area and someone told me about Studio Plus (in Durham off Fayetteville Street, near NCCU); they're a discount hair salon. I've been getting my relaxers there ($35), so I'll continue to do that. If I go to the Dominican Hair Salon, it will only be for wash and sets. However, I can get that at Studio Plus for $10! I'll have to continue to look, because these prices are very steep!
