Can someone tell me what those flowers are that you see on the sides of the road? They look like vines that wrap themselves around dead or dying trees. They are blooming right now, big purple blossoms.
Thanks.

wisteria vines. smell lovely.

some hate them, as they tend to spread like crazy, but I love them.

Wisteria is so pretty and smells wonderful but they really are very invasive and can create problems in weaker trees. I love to look at it but don't want it anywhere near my house!
You can however plant it on a pretty trellis!

Thanks, I thought it might be wisteria. They are so pretty, but look like they can be invasive.

Wisteria is kudzu with flowers. Grows fast, reroots itself all over the place, and strangles other plants. It sucks.

Default Here's 3 pictures of Wisteria for you to verify

I just took these outside of my house - landlords didn't know how invasive they were I guess.

The wisteria has spread to a few other trees - here's a house finch in one of the trees

Thumbs up 150 yards of wisteria on Farrington Rd, by Jordan Lake

I shot this today. Both sides of the road covered with wisteria, unchecked. The one-two punch of wisteria growing on bamboo was a real attention grabber.
