I have looked online for charities supporting Matthew Recover. Would like to give directed donation to NC, but so far, I have not found a specific site.

Any thoughts or ideas on this?

Default Donations for NC Disaster Relief

Hi funlife1,

A friend of mine had previously volunteered with the NC Baptist Men and Women Relief Ministry and I heard on the news they were setting up field kitchens.

If you search for their organization on Facebook (ncmissionsdisasterrelief#) you can see what work they are currently doing.

You can also search for them online (link is on FB page as well) which is where I found you can make an online donation to their organization to help with the NC efforts which is what I did.

Thanks, all. I have supported the Red Cross in the past, but this event is so close to home, I wanted to support a more local charity. Appreciate the information!

There are some good suggestions here. I'd like to add that one thing to consider is that many people in hourly paying jobs aren't able to work right now in flooded areas. So giving to a local food bank will help those in the greatest need. These people will be impacted for some time to come.

If you give to the red cross, you should ask if it can be "designated" to a particular geo area. I used to work for a non profit that provided disaster relief and got to/hear about Baptist Men's - they do a great job and are all volunteers so more money goes to help those in need.

Food and relief items can be dropped at the PNC Arena today and tomorrow for delivery to Robeson County on Friday.

Items needed for relief include:
  • Water
  • Ready-to-eat foods (i.e., granola bars, bread, peanut butter)
  • Paper goods
  • Diapers
  • Baby wipes
  • Children's clothing
  • Warm clothes (sweatpants and jackets)
