I have no idea how the design/construction of 64W/540N and 540S/64W were approved/paid on. The exit ramps are NOT banked at all, the turns are abrupt, and completely inappropriate and dangerous for two highways intersecting. Someone is going to get seriously injured when they approach those turns carrying too much speed. Has no one complained about this? Where is the accountability?

I must be slipping. I've used that exchange at least a half dozen times and failed to notice any issue. Are you by any chance an engineer?

The ramp coming in from Knightdale into 440 from 264 is super sharp and elevated. The 540 exchange isn't as bad but I agree with all those trees they really could have made a less abupt and more gentle connector ramp.

Turning onto 540N from 64W is crazy dangerous. Cars traveling at 60mph must make a sharp, unbanked turn like one would expect to find in a residential neighborhood. There is nothing else like this in the area, or anywhere else, for that matter, where I have ever exited a highway for another highway.

Oddly, the 64E/540S, 64E/540N, 540N/64E and 540S/64E ramps are fine. it's just two of them that are shockingly awful.

I've noticed that a few of the 540 interchanges were designed with very sharp turns. Some of them are marked sufficiently well, and others were not. You can always see tire marks on the shoulder where people have take the turn too fast and couldn't stay on the pavement. I'm shocked that it hasn't been a bigger problem.

The 55 one is a hundred times worse. Lots of skidmarks from people who saw the nearly 90 degree turn like a normal street too late.

I think you're referring to the Morrisville interchange, but the 55 interchange in Holly Springs is pretty bad too.

The NC-540 exit/entrance ramps are very poorly designed as well in Apex and Holly Springs. Some weird stuff going on...
