thanks, North_Raleigh_Guy. those are exactly what i was looking for. i feel like an idiot because i'm sure i could've searched harder and found those, but i was getting discouraged.
No worries! I find the "search" function a bit difficult to use at times. There is a sticky at the top of the top of the Triangle board with links to all kinds of pictures. It is still very easy to miss. Good luck!
i find the need to mention that the downtowns in this area are not the typical downtowns we have up north.
the downtowns i know are a couple of major streets where most businesses are located perhaps with homes or offices upstairs. it is an area where everyone congregates, and it is the center from which the rest of the town branches out.
of the 4 i think Chapel Hill is the only one that has that feel to me.
the rest of the areas do have "downtowns", but may have more than one, they are very spread out, they have pockets of "urbans" areas. but they dont actually feel that urban to me.
