I have the home version, but would love to try the arcade version. Anyone know of any locations?

Durham is best, but any location will be fine.

I've been too embarrased to play in public. I'm actually about to try it for the first time this weekend for the Wii though. My coworker has been telling me how fun and addicting it is. Looking forward to giving it a try!

I'm actually kind of cautious about playing in public. The last thing I need are some tweens laughing at the 38 year 'old' lady ddr'ing...

But I LOVE it at home, and have gotten up to 5-footers!

WARNING: It is VERY addicting. The first night I set mine up, I planned to only play for about 5 minutes, but I played for 5 hours straight!

I also dropped a pants size within 2 months of getting it...

If you have a chance, do the tutorial. It will help your playing a LOT. Even now, I play most songs in 'traning mode' (with no computer generated 'characters'), and then switch over to the full 'music video' version.

That is exactly what happened to my coworker! He played for 5 hours straight on Saturday and then 4 hours on Sunday... He came to work complaining he was sore. My husband sort of laughs at people who get so into DDR but I finally told him that anything that makes exercise fun, I'm all for!! I need to lose weight and was doing great until it got cooler and holidays coming.... I NEED to exercise now more than anything (having said that after a frozen pizza and some ice cream ).

I'll definitely do the tutorials, I really have no idea how to play! I should get to play for the first time on Thanksgiving or the day after.

When I first got it I skipped the tutorial...figured, "How hard could it be."

Unfortunately, I had a hard time moving beyond 2-footers. Turns out I had some 'bad habits' like returning to the center circle after each 'arrow'. The tutorial really teaches you the proper way to move on the mat, which is critical to moving up to the higher levels. Your feet and legs will be sore the first few days, but that goes away...and wear 'sweat' clothes. You will sweat like crazy.

Inspiration:

YouTube - Ryota's moves 1

YouTube - DDR Ryotas Move 7

YouTube - Young DDR Player

YouTube - DDR Ryotas Move 5 (watch until at least 1:05 into the video)
His name is Ryota. If you search the web and youtube, there are tons of videos of him.
