Looking to go somewhere different for dinner for a rare date night next weekend. Not too fancy, but with intersting food (we like just about everything). Our usual go-to's are Tribeca Tavern, WestPark Tavern, Spirits, Tyler's Tap room. Looking to get out of our comfort zone next weekend, but don't have the time to drive over to Chapel Hill/Durhma/Raleigh.
We like Maximillians for more interesting food, although it's not cheap. Also want to try out the brand new place downtown called Academy Street Bistro: I'm hearing excellent reviews.
We also enjoy Spirits, Lucky 32, Sushi Thai, An (more expensive), Bonefish and Saffron.
^Deans is a good suggestion. I've not been there, but it's owned by the same group as Tribecca (technically, not anymore, but it was started by the same people).
Tangarine at Old Apex and Cary Pkwy is really good, but not a great atmosphere.
I'd also put a HUGE plug in for Bosphorus on Harrison. Good food, good price, not pretentious. If you go there, they allow brown bagging for the wine, don't think they sell wine though so be forewarned. THe more I think of it, Boshporus wold be my vote.
Oh..we also love La Shish! Service can be spotty but it's very cute and romantic and the food is delish. I adore the food in Bosphorus too but the ambiance is not really "date night".
I have heard good things about KomoKomo in Cary (Korean French fusion) - especially from some foodie friends who thought it worth the drive from Durham.
We had a girls night out at Iwa Sushi in Apex and I thought it would be good for a date too. They have lots of booths and just enough noise to allow for conversation but not overhearing the neighbors. Food was good too and we were not bothered much by a server.
