Helping someone plan a wedding in the Chapel Hill area October 26 or 27 2013(yes next year) Is that weekend usually homecoming weekend for either school? If it is the date needs to change due to hotels, restaurants being too busy. The schools websites don't have anything.

For next year, there is no way of knowing right now. The schools will have the information first. Homecomings change every year. But since that is also the time of year where it's usually all-conference games, hotel rooms and restaurants will still be busy if it is Duke vs UNC, for example.

And I know that UNC is having a scandal within its football problem right now, but we still aren't USC-caliber when it comes to NCAA infractions, so you may want to change the title of this thread.

Well UNC's homecoming is Nov 10 this year and NC State's is Oct 28th this year. I don't know why you would need to change the date if the wedding is in Chapel Hill for NC State's homecoming, though. I wouldn't think anyone would be in Raleigh for a Chapel Hill wedding.

I'd be more concerned with a big rival game being that weekend but it'll be a long while before that info gets posted. If you book your venue and a block of rooms now I wouldn't worry about it.

what eva just said.

There is no "traditional" weekend for Homecoming at either school, other than it does usually fall late October to Nov 15th at the latest, which is in the range you're talking about. Still, since neither school has set the date, consider that date wide open right now.

I don't know if NC State takes the State Fair into consideration when planning homecoming, but the NC State Fair is October 17-27 in 2013. That may not affect hotels/restaurants used for weddings much, but may affect traffic depending on where you're planning on having the event.

NC State tries to not shcedule home games during the fair, but sometimes the ACC office does not accomodate us.

I really have a hard time believing that it's not possible to have a good wedding in Chapel Hill just because there's a football game going on. With enough planning (as most weddings have), it seems entirely possible to book needed venues, and but for a few hours around game time and then most immediately around campus there isn't that much disruption around town. And NC State is 30 miles away.

Yeah a home game at NCSU would have zero bearing on what's going on at Chapel Hill. I could maybe see hotels being an issue in Chapel Hill for big games but honestly with how down in the mud their football program is this year I doubt they'll be seeing their usual attendance numbers.

I don't know that I'd ever risk booking an Autumn wedding in Chapel Hill without knowing the home football schedule. For me, it would be a distraction at best and a major disrupter/headache at worst. Call the athletic department and ask them when they'll know their home football schedule for next season. That's the best advice that I can give.
