My girlfriend and I have decided to move to Raleigh from eastern Long Island, NY. I will be attending NCSU and she will be teaching elementary students somewhere in the area. I am 26 and she is 22. We visited Raleigh this past weekend and fell in love with it! Especially Lake Johnson and the downtown (Glenwood Ave area where our hotel was all we really got to see in terms of nightlife though).
We saw Lake Johnson Mews apartments but would like to hear about other options as well. We would love to be on the lake itself (like Lake Johnson Mews is, with the lake essentially in its backyard), walking distance to public transit for downtown and ncsu, close (but not too close) to the major roads/highways and prefer living around people in our age range.
Can anyone recommend townhomes, condos, or apartment complexes on or right near Lake Johnson?
Also, if you can think of a neighborhood that is comparable in location, safety, age range, and maybe even outdoor access, that would be wonderful as well.
that's about what you're talking about - as access to all those things goes.
Caveat though - your girlfriend is not moving here at age 22 and getting a job teaching school at the K-12 level in Wake County (all of Raleigh area) unless maybe she has a very specialized focus.
