My car is registered to my husband, and it appears he forgot to register it this year. Got a ticket for expired registration/no inspection. I could kill him
If I register it/get the inspection, do they waive the ticket? I'm guessing they don't, and I should just register/get the inspection and send a cheque in for the ticket. Trying to decide if it's worth going in.

I think so if you can show the DA/judge proof that you got the car registered. You still may have to pay court costs though... this happened to my neighbor also. It's amazing how many people forget to renew their registration, but it's a fairly common mistake.
This happened to my wife - She just went to the court and showed proof of inspection / registration and all costs were waived. It was pretty fast and simple.
I think they actually had a speciifc line set up for all the people doing this.
I had one out in asheville...sent the ticket in with my payment (too far to justify driving out there and getting it waived). Got my payment back with a note saying it was dismissed.

Just be prepare to wait in line for a while! (I recommend getting there early.)
We just went through this (husband's vehicle of course!!) and once you get everything "up to date" you can actually go before your court date to convenience court, and show them the documentation there. They will waive the fees, ticket, etc. (at least they did for us).
