Hi All -
Looking for a great place to eat this weekend (dinner), prefer seafood and a local favorite. Familar with Bone Fish and McCormick's - really prefer something unique to Raleigh. Staying downtown...

Any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch!

Dislike Shuckers. Been there both before they moved and after and experience was pretty unacceptable both times. I can forgive bad service but the food was pretty average at best. I'm not super picky with food - I'll exclaim "this is delicious" for most things I eat - but this was not really that good. I am watching for other suggestions to try, as I don't really know of any great seafood places around here other than sushi.

I have not been to Shuckers since they moved. But loved it in the old location. No complaints at all.

Since I'm relocating to the area soon, I thought I'd ask - do any of the places mentioned here serve fried whole-belly clams, or broiled bay scallops? This is the restaurant locally (Mooresville) that does both:

Joe Fish Casual Seafood

so hopefully there's something similar in the area?

It might be worth the trip. Sounds like I might need to come back to Mooresville every now and then, especially if I need to stop by Ikea anyway.

Guess its a matter of opinion. The place is ALWAYS packed full so they are doing something right! We have never had a bad meal there.

Indeed. Perhaps they are packed because that's the only place around, or, as we noticed, lots of people are using the bar and the food is secondary (even those sitting at tables or outside). But, if the food was good I'd be happy. Oh well.
