My wife is taking a job next to Southpoint mall in south Durham and I am considering a job in Goldsboro. What is the easiest location for commuting for the both of us? Interested in high end townhome or single family home to rent at first. We are early 30's, Not really interested in too rural of an area.

The Clayton area seems to be a reasonable area between the two work locations! I binged approximately 46 minutes in route to both places. I hear that Johnston County is building too although that may be a bit far fetched.

Good Luck!

Clayton will be more your most equitable compromise, definitely. Go no farther west than Garner, no farher East than Smithfield.

Thanks for the advice. Any potential for Knightdale? The roads look larger on the maps using 264 and 795. Or is this just too far out of the way?

Clayton will be your best bet. You can find all types of homes there from very affordable starter homes and to custom build neighborhoods such as Pineville West in Flowers Plantation. There are also great schools as well. Plus, have great healthcare, universities, shopping, and dining options of nearby Raleigh. I am not a fan of Knightdale at all. I dunno why. It gives me the weebeegeebees.

Why take jobs so far apart? That's a heck of a commute.

There are lots of cute little towns just over the Johnston County line convenient to I-40…. if you both don't mind a bit of an equal drive

Yea, We're a bit bummed about the commute, but.....gotta go where the jobs are. Last question for you guys, any chance there is any lake side living for motor boating between these two locations to balance out the long commute?
