I like going to one of the local lakes (Lake Johnson usually) and canoe-ing, jon boating, pedal boating, etc. Lots of fun and a good workout! Or head to Sandling Beach at Falls Lake for a day at the water without the travel.

Funny, but we are staying here and looking forward to a blissful weekend of nothing to do. It seems like the last couple weekends have been so full of local can't miss activities (acc to my kids) that we are taking a weekend off to go to the pool, clean the garage, sleep late, play tennis, etc.

Although we may head to Chapel Hill to see this: Sacred Arts Tour 2011 If you have never seen a mondala constructed....it is very cool.

Take an hour or 2 to attend a ceremony honoring the soldiers who were killed in service. American Legion & VFW usually hold events at local cemeteries. I am trying to reach some of their offices in Durham to find out times/places here. This is a tradition that should not die out.

In my experience, things really quiet down in much of the Triangle for Memorial Day Weekend. Some restaurants even close for the weekend. I usually just take it easy and grill out and enjoy some quiet time. It is quite nice actually!
