Recently North Raleigh got it's very first Meat House (located off Falls of Neuse just south of Milbrook Road). I've been meaning to check it out and now I have added incentive. I just learned today that the North Raleigh Meathouse is now carrying growlers of beer for sale from the Aviator Brewing Company out of Fuquay. While you can find aviator beer in some local bars in Raleigh, until now the only way to take some home was to make a trek down tow Fuquay to get a growler filled at the taproom, but not any more. The North Raleigh Meathouse has most of the Aviator brews - Their current lineup is HotRod Red, HogWild IPA, Devil's Tramping Ground Tripel, and Saison de Aviator. Looking forward to stopping by soon for my first growler!
I'm not sure if the offer the growlers at their Cary location, but I will inquire when I stop by.
I love the Meat House. It's the only place I've been able to find brisket cut just the way I want it, with a layer of fat left on top, and at a decent size. Every other place sells tiny 1 lb. pieces trimmed within an inch of its (former) life.
Stopped by the Falls of Neuse location over the weekend. Walked in and my 1st impression was good but I kinda just fast browsed and was going to leave when I started talking to one of the butchers. They took the time to point out a lot of things I just overlooked. The place is not all that large but they take advantage of what space they have. Bottom line I ended up getting some Meat House Steak tips (chunks about 1/4 lb each that can be cut up or grilled as is), marinated medley veggies (peppers/onions/etc), marinated mushrooms. Oh my what a meal that turned out to be on the grill. I am not a great griller by any stretch but this was fantastic. What a nice addition for the area.
