I've missed that. I thought all the drive ins in the Triangle were now closed. Durham still had the Starlight until it burned 3-4 years ago. Enjoy it while it is still around.
If you ever go to Goldsboro, ask around and see if the Waco Drive In is still around. I haven't even thought about that place in years, since I used to live in that area.
Love the drive in! Can't wait! I went to a drive in somewhere in rural NY last summer and it was so cold we had to bundle up in blankets and keep the windows closed which of course made them foggy.
Not only is this a drive-in but it's a really well done one at that. We've been there a bunch of times and it's always fun. Although you can sneak in your own refreshments it's really a good idea to spend some money at their concession because that's where they make the money to keep the place open.
And if you're going to have people sitting in the hatch you'll need bungee cords to keep them from opening all the way up and obscuring the views of those sitting behind you.
Oh and they always offer double-features which is awesome if your gang has it in them to stay for both.
Another vote for Raleigh Road Drive in in Henderson. It is a great family friendly place, where they always have a G or PG movie for the first showing, and the second showing depends on the night (usually an action type PG 13), some times they have triple play movies.
The snacks are much less than movie theater snacks, and I always feel like it is supporting them quite a bit. They have added more bathrooms, (not a lot, but it helps), and it is just a great place for the family to have a fun outing!
We bring chairs, and sit outside of the car, then for the second movie, the kids get back in the car and fall asleep (okay, sometimes I do too because the second movie, in the middle of the summer, will not start until 1030?).
