I'm weary of the location, and a red flag goes WAYYYYY up to me whenever i hear something like "UNDER 500 dollar apartments!" But someone is trying to convince my mom these are decent apartments......and go figure, i can't find this place on Apartment Ratings.......so here's the address:

280 Seawell Avenue
Raleigh, NC 27601

According to google maps it's right across the way from Oakwood Cemetery......spooky, eh? haha. I know Oakwood is gorgeous in some parts, but crappy in others...

So, what do you guys think of that area??
Good, Bad, Okayish.

The person trying to turn my mum on to it keep saying "they're trying to turn the place around" -- and me, i say Good for them, call me when it's turned around! LOL
But yeah, i thought i'd come on here and ask you guys what you think of the area!

THANKS!

Idlewild has the reputation of being a rough street, which it's near. $500 is tough to find and there is ALWAYS going to be a reason. Those are near a great part of town and that's a pretty big upside.

Yeah, that area is definitely on the upswing. I guess it depends on who you are as to whether you are willing to go on the upswing with it, or wait til it's done. I loooove walks through Oakwood Cemetery!

That area is a street away from the Cooke Street revitalization that was started by the city a few years ago. Cooke Street (the street west of Seawell) and Seawell are full of newer and renovated houses. There is actually a house for sale right now for $375k on Cooke, to give you some perspective. I think that Idlewild is still up and coming, but this is definitely becoming a desirable area, especially for young professionals and young families who want to live close to downtown. It has been rough in the past, but it has changed a lot in the past few years.
