For those of you visiting, relocating or having relocated to the Triangle I wanted to share this recommendation; Make plans to enjoy one of our two minor league baseball teams. We went to see the Carolina Mudcats last night and had a blast. We hosted out-of-town guests and the wife, not a baseball fan, thought it was great fun as well.
Some of the kids were able to finagle souvenir baseballs, the food and tickets were much cheaper then we're used to and the drive was short. And for all of us baseball fans it was great being that close to the action.
We're off to see the Durham Bulls next week and can't wait.
What's great about the Durham Bulls is that sometimes they're better than their big league affiliate, and if there's ever going to be an Elijah Dukes prison jumpsuit bobblehead doll, Durham is where you're going to get it.
North Carolina is minor league baseball heaven. Charlotte has AAA ball too, and I wouldn't rule out Charlotte getting MLB one day.
Minor League Baseball is great. The price is right, the atmosphere is fun. The sporting fans of the family can get to see a baseball game. Those who aren't the biggest fans can enjoy the fun. It really is a great time. I went to a few Mudcats games and they really were a lot of fun.
Do you need to buy in advance or is it safe to show up say tomorrow evening and buy em at the stadium?
I tried buying them in advance and there is no way of indicating how many free little ones you will be bringing.
Yes it's true. However that doesn't apply to premium seats. Having purchased premium seats though I would recommend you take the freebie's and exploit the deal. There isn't a bad seat in the joint.
Also, we just showed up at game time and bought tickets. I always prefer to buy in advance but we didn't decide until late in the day to go. There were plenty of seats available.
We have SO MUCH FUN at the Durham Bulls! Although we go with young adult friends, drink some cheap beer and enjoy the games! We bought the ten ticket season pass this year, and its been totally worth it!

That's pretty funny, but also sad because Dukes is one heck of a talented ballplayer. His skills were improving each year in the minors, despite his off-the-field troubles. If he can't fit in with the Rays (not known for discipline), I don't know where he'll end up.
