My husband and I are just starting to research whether we should relocate to the Raleigh/Cary area. I'd be curious if there are any good websites (other than this one!) that have good info on these areas -- e.g., what communities there are, where the key places to go to shop and dine are, what the local "festivals" such as fairs or farmer's markets are, etc.

indyweek.com is the website for a great free local paper that is a good resource for restaurants and events going on. It does lean left in its stories, so if you are an ultra-right winger you may not like it. I don't use the website much, so I'm not sure if everything in the print edition is available online.
triangle.com is owned by the main Raleigh paper (News and Observer) and you'll find restaurant reviews there and such.
triangle.citysearch.com is one of my favorite online tools for researching places locally.
