My husband will be working near the crabtree mall on blue ridge road. We have been looking at houses since we got here monday. We looked at the cary/apex, as well as wake forest so far, north raleigh would probablybe closest, but we hadnt looked there yet. Does anyone have any opionions as to subdivsions to look at? We are looking to stay under 250/260, and have small children. Thank you!

emme, there are several very nice subdivisions in North Raleigh. I can't remember the names of all of them but if you still need them, I can try to look back in my notes from the time when we looked there. send me a pm if you still need the info.

You may also find that it is easier to access Blue Ridge Rd in the mornings coming in from the West on I-40 to Wade Ave to Edwards Mill. You'd be going against the typical morning commute (which tends to be towards RTP). So you might consider Morrisville and Cary and also the Brier Creek area.

The new "North Raleigh" (which is much further out that what we called N. Raleigh when I first got here 20 yrs ago) is further out and will take longer. If I were looking for a decent commute to this area, living in Raleigh, and staying in that range, I'd look at older homes in the area bounded roughly by I-540, I-440, Blue Ridge/Duraleigh, and Six Forks.

I grew up in a really nice subdivision off of Lynn Road between Leadmine road & Six Forks. If you are looking for a really nice, family oriented, extremely nice neighbors but older homes (built back in the 70's), check out Keystone drive and Lynnwood drive. North Hills area is also really nice. Not sure if there are any homes for sale or not but its a good area.

I would recommend Quail Hollow, bordered on the north by Millbrook Rd, the west by Six Forks, the east by Falls of Neuse/Wake Forest Rd., and the south by Hardimont. Another great area is North Hills, though homes close to the shopping center have gone up since that development.

my picks:

any of the leesville neighborhoods (woodlawn, dominion park, harrington grove), durant trails, bedford, tealbriar. north hills is great (i live there), but it is getting slim pickings under 300k.

Thanks for all the information! We had been looking in the apex cary area, we are currently living in cary for the moment. But I really wantedt o move to wake forest, more what I am used to, or north raleigh, which would be closer to his work ( hate to have him traveling 30+ minutes every day even though he said he doesnt mind). But its so hard to drive around and check out areas and houses with the kids! I am soo done with the house search thing.

Believe me, I am a broker and I got tired of looking at homes for myself! I get the kids in tow, they end up getting so irritable! I looked at 50 houses before we picked one, so the kids watched a lot of movies while we drove all over the triangle! We too were moving from the apex/cary area and picked wake forest (my husband works in the park).

I think people have given you great suggestions though! I do like the north hills area! Well, almost anything off of six forks is a favorite of mine!

Leigh
