My opinion is that they already know where the road is going to go (the original plan that we've all seen for the last few years), but they are probably required by law to go through a study phase and act like they are examining other alternatives, act like they are getting taxpayer input, etc. These new "alternate" routes are probably just to satisfy that requirement.

Oh it will definitely uproot homes, but I'm betting that they would rather cut through a family farm and plow down a single 100 yr old farmhouse than cut through Sunset Ridge and plow down 8 or 10 $500K houses.

There is absolutely no question there will be an impact on homeowners and neighborhoods.
Home values along the best known prospective corridor have already felt an impact.
With 4 alternative options, along with doing nothing... Lack of clarity has an impact too.
If our homes end up not being affected by the finalized route, will the construction result in an increase our property values in the south east part of wake county?

I would think "No Effect" might equal "No Effect."
Now, if you have easy access to an interchange without significantly increased traffic on your street or in your neighborhood, I would consider that a positive.
