zip 27606 and combs elementary (rentals, house, neighborhoods)

we are currently renting in 27609 in a 1960's brick ranch and we LOVE our neighborhood, but the house is too small. We are looking to buy but it seems as though the older brick styles we like are out of our price range. what do you know about 27606 and combs elementary? some of the neighborhoods seem to have the same qualities we like but a little cheaper, plus i work in cameron village and it looks pretty close. any thoughts? Thanks!

I grew up in that neighborhood. For the most part it's still a great place and the school is HIGHLY sought after right now, you just have to watch out for pockets of college rentals in some areas. But overall, it's very nice. I have neighbor I grew up with who just moved back to 27606 so his children could go to Combs.
