I've been to Clayton a few times over the past 5 years but I don't make it down there that often. I've been to the Flipside a few times to hear music but I was wondering if there were any new things going on in Clayton to check out? Any new bars? Art venues? Places to see music or Wine Shops ect?

What's new in Clayton? What do 30 somethings without kids do there on weekends?

Well, when we are not tipping cows, cooking pigs or guzzling beer, alot of stuff is happening in downtown Clayton. We have a new Clayton center that opened (haven't been yet, but I have heard good things about it!) where you can take local classes, walk around the indoor pathway or play basketball. On the weekends, we have a farmers market set up in town square. There's alot of artist gallery showings and music shows too.

Have breakfast and/or lunch at Jones's lunch (closed on Sundays) and try dinner at Clayton steakhouse or Mulberry on Main (Italian). I think everytime I drive through downtown Clayton, there's something going on.

There is a free outdoor concert every Thursday night from 7-9 in the summer (Town Square Concert Series). Other special events include Millstock and the Harvest Festival. My family and I also like to go hiking at Clemmons Forest.

I lived there briefly in the Percy Flowers area. We got our kicks looking around out in the woods for abandoned liquor stills Driving to the Dairy King at night was a lot of fun too. I hear it closed a few years.

This year's Harvest Music Festival is scheduled for September 15-19. Harvest Festival - Clayton Chamber of Commerce | Clayton, NC

The Clayton Center (http://www.theclaytoncenter.com/index.html - broken link) is a quaint, intimate place to see a show. Their 2010-2011 schedule is due out soon.

Heard but never been to LOL Comedy Club. Remember reading that one show was even non-smoking!

We occasionally go treasure hunting for some of Percy Flower's buried loot out along the Neuse River...

Thursday night music at the square.

Pelican's SnowBalls on a Friday or any night it has been above 99 degrees.

AND I was told it is best to get the pigs to guzzle the beer BEFORE you cook 'em..
