Tons of Music, food, entertainment and an awesome fireworks show. All along Fayetteville street. This is a free event. Past festivals have drawn between 20-25k people. Good times. Might need to lug my trombone down there.

Oh, no, this sounds like one of those huge festivals like Taste of Chicago. Never could stand the crowds. But the crowds mean others must love it!

So, good for Raleigh! It sounds fun if you are into that kind of thing!

The crowds usually aren't TOO bad - depending on the weather. We go down for at least a few hours every year and generally have a good time.

I don't think it could compete with the crowds at Taste of Chicago... that would probably mean every Raleigh resident would have to come out - and that just doesn't happen.

I went last year and had an absolute BLAST! I went during the day, so I think I'll go during the evening this time. I'm a huge nerd because my favorite part of the festival was the library used book sale .

Right! Just to be clear .... I did not take those photos. You can tell becuase they are really quite good.

I've missed Wide Open the past few years. They have had some bad luck with wet weather. I hope it is nice this time. I'm looking forward to checking it out. The fireworks are pretty darn good. And worth a night trip.

I suggest parking up by all the government buildings just North of the Capital Bldg. You have to walk a handful of blocks to Fayetteville street, but it is easy parking and usually free.
