This isn't Chicago, NYC or another major city. It's sleepy little SW florida.
That was my thinking too. Along with being much more casual, not a lot of business expense accounts and not so densely populated.

Totally agree, but why ruin a perfectly good piece of fish, even if it's a more pedestrian catch, slopped in 1.5lbs of butter and breading and lemon reduction/cream sauce? Might as well bring along a piece of frozen Mrs. Paul's in your pocket when going out and ask the chef to microwave it.

I don't understand if it's the demand side (customers) asking for that, or if the restaurant doesn't know how to do anything else. Maybe a little bit of both.

Remember, it wasn't long ago that "Chilean Sea Bass" used to be junk fish by another very different name. Now it's a premium entree item. That cracks me up. And this is speaking as someone who loves cod, by the way.

Grilled, w/a little bit of salt, pepper, dash of lemon and presto. It's not rocket science.

Or blackened, if that's your style.

Well, if they are catering to seniors, where's the Early Bird Specials?

I think the good specials migrate north when the snowbirds migrate south!

3 within a 1 block radius in Punta Gorda are Jacks on Marion, River City Grill and Deans South of the border.
