It is time to replace my old GE dishwasher. Need some reviews from posters who have bought a new one lately, and whether you really like it or not. Also did you buy it from a big box store such as Lowe's or a local appliance store. Budget is up to approx. $600. Thanks in advance.
Whatever GE I have now I don't like - I replaced a dishwasher (not GE) that worked great just because of the terms of the loan (replacing the kitchen appliances) - sorry I don't have the time/feel like digging up the paperwork on it but: it's not adaptable for other size things unless you read the manual, have to remove some clips, move racks, etc. (pain and I'm not doing it, tried it once, never again) - the tines are all the same size so not adaptable to bowls, etc. - it is quiet when running but when you open it after the cycle, it automatically resets itself for a restart!! I recommend reading reviews carefully (for what it's worth, the contractor who installed said "lots of problems w/GE" but take that w/a grain of salt. If you really want to know I'll pull out the manual, etc. - look for a dishwasher that has a flippable section on the bottom rack, etc.
^^^^ Thank you for the comments Flamingo, too bad you're not happy with your new one.
I really don't want to buy a GE, this one came with the house which is about 15 yrs. old. I am thinking about a Whirlpool, maybe a Samsung.
What brands do you CD posters have that you would buy again if you had to. (or not). My neighbor is gaga about her Bosch, but I don't have her bucks, nor do I chase 'the high end names of items'. Thanks !

I won’t buy GE apliances ever again. Their quality has gone downhill. My kitchen came with all GE and I like none of them. The over-the-range microwave has broken down several times, been repaired, broken down again; then replaced with a different GE model and the process repeated. Currently it is still broken and I am using a little no-name counter model I’ve had since 2004.
I've had Bosch dishwashers in my last 4 homes and love them. Just make sure you use a Rinse aid.
