Hello everybody,

Do you know, where I can dump the old sofa for free in Prescott Valley?

Thanks for help.

Unless it is absolute trash, how about donating to any of the shelters, or the Salvation Army ?

Several years ago I donated furniture to ARC of Arizona in Tempe; I notice there is a location in Prescott.

Some places were very choosy about what they would accept (I understand they had their reasons) or told me I had to haul it downstairs myself (I was in a 2nd-floor apartment at the time).

ARC took whatever I donated (none of it was trash) and as for the one item needing repair, they said there were folks there who liked working on stuff.

They'd probably be the first ones I'd call if I was donating furniture again.

Some people get rid of old crappy sofas by disassembling them, putting the fabric and stuffing in the trash and taking the metal parts to a recycler.

Other than that, you pretty much have to pay to dispose of it.

You can wait for the PV free dump days. I'm not sure when it is this year, but historically it's been in the first week of May.

You might be better off just recycling it.

Prescott has this now? Can't find it on Google Maps.

I could not find an Arc listing for Prescott either. In any case, it would be better (in my opinion) to donate to a local thrift store with a local mission such as Stepping Stones (money raised for battered women and families) or CCJ (money raised to help locally impoverished people). According to Arc, there mission is to "helps us employ over 1,200 people from all areas of Colorado, including those with intellectual/developmental disabilities." Basically, this is the same as Goodwill. They 'hire' people with disabilities and pay them below minimum wage through a special loophole in the law. The same 'mission' could be said for any sales business which employs people, including Walmart.

If you look on craigslist under services offered there are people who advertise who will haul stuff away for cheap.
