Looking to possibly relocate to Oregon from east Vancouver.
Looking up to the 400k range for a home with atleast a 10k sq ft lot, great schools and low crime. Lot's a of parks, dog parks, good shopping,
and low property taxes.
How is the commute into downtown Portland from there?
I looked into Beaverton, Tigard, and Sherwood plus it's
more pricey than Oregon City with smaller lots.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Vancouver is full of strip malls, too much traffic going into
downtown Portland, no real good shopping, and full of subdivisions.

Commute might be a bit much, but if you're coming from Vancouver you're probably already dealing with long commute times. You'd probably cover more distance but keep a similar commute time.

There are nice and not-so-nice parts of OC. Be sure to look at the surrounding community before you buy. I think near the Highschool or towards Beavercreek is the best.

People can be a bit... "homely" in OC. I've also ran into quite a few ignorant folks there. OC has an Old downtown and a new one. There aren't a ton of quality restaurants, though there are a few. Clackamas County Sheriffs Dept is also everywhere in that town - which could be good/bad depending on who you are. Traffic in-town isn't bad, and they just repaved the Hwy heading into New Oregon City.

I am glad to see this thread, I am also interested in Oregon City. I like the big lots, old houses, and the river. But I am terrified of ending up near a bunch of closed minded people, or being burglerized when I leave my house. I have a good relationship with law enforcement, because I abide by the law. So no issue there.
