Well, Mrs. Shaft went out and caught herself an enormous steelhead, and we don't have the facilities in our house to store it. Can anyone recommend a place to store a frozen fish and/or to have it fileted? I know absolutely nothing about what is involved in this process and would appreciate any and all advice. We are in the Beaverton/Aloha area.

Thanks!

I'm assuming you have a freezer. IIWY, I'd gut the fish, take off the head and trail, wash it, and cut it into "steaks" about 1 1/2" thick. Pack the steaks into freezer bags, and stack it. That should fit into a normal freezer. You could also have it smoked to order, just look in the phone book for that. If you do have it smoked, make sure they "plank" it on cedar-- that's the Native American way, and the best, IMO.

Alternatively, light up the BBQ and invite all your CD friends over. I'll bring the beer.
