Old thread, I know... but this is SUCH a bad analogy! Dogs shouldn't be rewarded for pissing on the carpet, but they also shouldn't have their noses rubbed in it or be "popped hard." Dear lord, who even does that crap anymore? If you personally do, please stop abusing your poor pup.

You don't teach a dog to do better by punishment, you teach them by leading them to the good choices (e.g. take them outside) - and then reward them for doing what you wanted. Perhaps that's the technique you should be using on humans too? Food for thought.

That's kind of avoiding my question... do you think those are appropriate techniques for training/correcting a dog? Yes or no?

I'm not saying that's the answer, either. As I said, it's more about guiding people to the RIGHT decisions - and then "praising" (however you'd do that for a society of humans) when they do it. That isn't the same as coddling or permissiveness. It's a simple manner of positive reinforcement, which again, is also the most effective way to train a dog.

Trump got 82,995 votes in Multnomah County.

That's more than he got in all of Eastern Oregon combined.

The only county in the state with more Trump voters than Multnomah is Washington County where he did slightly better.

Ah, and serial killers are never known for dumping bodies outside the jurisdiction in which they hunt to muddle the investigation.

Both positive and negative reinforcement are necessary when working dogs and people.

There are millions of examples of human beings failing despite being given ONLY all kinds of positive reinforcement. Doesn't always turn out well although it likely makes for a nice Hallmark movie

I saw a TikTok yesterday saying several bodies had been found dead in PDX. True or false?

Dead bodies are found in PDX every single day. According to the Oregon Health Authority https://visual-data.dhsoha.state.or....romVizportal=y the number of people who die in Multnomah County averages about 550/month. If you add in Washington and Clackamas Counties the total is about 1250 per month or 41 people per day who are found dead in the PDX metro area and that doesn't even include Clark County.

Right - this TikTok was speculating there may have been a "bad batch," because a bunch of dead bodies were supposedly found in one day.

What are most of the #'s you cited attributed to? Are those mostly OD's or all of the other reasons people croak?
