My husband and I are both 24yrs. old. We have three children ages 9 4 and 2. We are hoping to move to Portland within a year. I will have my associates degree, majoring in Social Work. Any help on how to locate jobs would be extremely helpful also. I am hoping to move to Oregon for a more diverse felling. We are originally from Kansas and are currently living in Idaho. We are not a very wealthy family, middle class I guess you can say. My husband works for a meat packing facility her in town, maybe looking for something similar once we relocate. I am hoping to get some honest feed back on schools, incomes, average rental rates, crime, diversity, schools, pretty much everything. We are young parents simply looking for a better life, some where were we can learn learn to love.

You can get a lot of that information from the main city-data.com site. Just click on Oregon, then Portland, and you'll get stats on the diversity, income, weather, crime, etc. I think the house price data on the site is often a little behind the trend, though; you can look on realtor.com or craigslist.org for a feel for house and apartment costs.
