Nearly all of the proposed changes involve an increase in the amount and complexity of the tax.

I think this should go to the voters again.

Did the voters really approve this ridiculous tax?

Government never ever gives back any money once they have it, so don't count on the tax ever being reduced or being made less complicated.

I think was a citizen's initiative, poorly written.

I am with you 100%. The first time I don't think the voters understood what it was all about and unfortunately, voter turnout was not all that great so it was a shoo-in for its supporters.

Wow. Portland mailed 170,000 collection letters for the arts tax. In a city of 600,000...good lord

Why am I not surprised that Portland politicians want more taxpayer money?

What are they going to do with this "found" money?

Portland has at least $31 million in surplus to spend -- help politicians decide what to do | OregonLive.com

And they want more?
Now I know why they have those smug, smiling faces in that picture.
People in Portland really need to wake up.

Wait a minute, I just realized it's Portland I'm talking about.

Yes, it passed by a substantial margin. It was referred to voters months before the election. A survey at the time of referral showed voter opposition.

All the opponents were lulled into a false sense of impending victory, and there was NO opposition campaign. In the meantime, the education lobby, the kids lobby, and other supporters quietly worked under the radar to get their supporters to vote for it.

One way of another, voters are going to get a crack at any proposed changes, which will go down in flames.
