Hello,

My family is considering a move to either Tualatin or Beaverton in early spring 2013. We are trying to narrow down the best neighborhoods in each city to raise our 2 young children. Our most important consideration is to live by an elementary school that provides a safe and nurturing education with a high degree of parental involvement. Rather than simply relying on the websites that show show school ratings...I'm hoping some locals can help us target our search in these two cities. Thank you.

We moved to Tualatin almost 5 years ago. I'm not sure that neighborhoods matter too much. The biggest thing to look at is the boundary for the school district. Some Tualatin addresses go to Tigard schools.

Our child only attended high school here. It was a very good experience. I highly recommend the high schools. All of our neighbors talk highly of the elementary and middle schools also.

Tualatin is a fairly quiet small town close to alot of other cities. It is not particularly diverse.

Where would you be working commute wise?

We finally bought in West Linn, but when we were looking, we really liked the Fox Hills neighborhood in Tualatin, which is east of I-5. If you need to get on the freeway, we've heard if is much easier to access from this side. The other thing to pay attention to is there is a split around 50th St (I believe) in terms of school district. Those homes on the right belong to the West Linn/Wilsonville school district while everything to the left is Tigard. We're new to the area but we've heard WL/Wilsonville schools are better (the HS campus is gorgeous!). If that's important, you can just ask your realtor when you're looking at homes in that neighborhood. Hope that helps and good luck!
