I'm trying to accumulate a list from local residents of different cities of their top 5 favorite high rises. I'd love for you to list them. Please include at least the address or name and a photo if available (unless someone has already posted by the time you put your vote in)

Thanks

I am sooo not the authority on this, but Big Pink should be in there somewhere. It's the US Bancorp Tower and the tallest in Portland I think.

is it not the tallests?

i assumed it was. the wells fargo tower must be the tallest then.

i like the way the us bank tower is designed. if you look at from the south waterfront area, it appears very short and "squat"-seeming. but seeing it from a northeast angle, it comes as very tall and slender.

this guy, who also posts over at skyscraperpage.com has an excellent photo of it: IMG_1897 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Wells Fargo Center is the tallest building in Portland, followed by Big Pink and KOIN Center. The Smart Tower is still being planned, but it's supposed to be the tallest structure in Portland at 650 ft. Personally I really like John Ross Tower and adjacent buildings on the South Waterfront. It looks very futuristic and inviting.

My favorite is also the Big Pink. I guess I just like the way it looks.

The Pittock building remains my favorite.

Pittock Block - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Followed by the Dekum.

Dekum Building - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not skyscrapers by today's standards, but in their day they were both pretty impressive.

both of those are good buildings.

the pittock building reminds me vaguely of the biltmore hotel in downtown los angeles, but not quite as grand.
