Hi there.

I moved to Beaverton a month or so ago from Klamath falls, and just decided that I'd like to get into some mountain-biking. Does anybody know of a good place with some ruggedish trails to start off on? Also, are there any good shops google might not know about where I could get a good bike at a decent price?

Thanks!

Oh and another thing; does anybody know of a mushy, romancey place like you see in movies where they sit out and talk about life while overlooking something scenic?

Don't go and buy a ring unless you are sure she will say "mmm, ok...". I can't imagine there are any bike shops in Beaverton that Google doesn't know about and, it's just as well because it is likely you wouldn't be able to afford what they want to sell you. I can recommend Bike Gallery @ Hall and Canyon Rd. in Beaverton. You can comparison shop at Performance Bike just down the street. The sales staff and selection at Bike Gallery are superior however. The Performance Bike people acknowledge the fact themselves. I am strictly a roadie so I can't clue you onto some rad slickrock or singletrack but I can tell you that although bikes are not allowed on the unpaved trails in Forest Park I have seen them there. Hardly a gnarly trail riding experience but there are overlooks. Some might even be considered romantic on the right day of the week (i.e. not Saturday or Sunday). There is always the Tram but you better rehearse your pitch cuz the ride is ~15 minutes long. Good luck.
