I really feel that this may help my people in the long run. Since we no longer can be treated, lawfully that is, like second class citizens we've been able to relax and fail. This may wake up a generation of dope heads to the fact that segments of this country want to enslave them. Political groups like the tea party want you to not have the rights many (white and black) died for. Then they may put down the guns and drugs and fight, again for their freedom. I want the tea party to repeal the CRA.
delusianne, i enjoy reading the majority of your posts...being an open minded person allows me to listen/read other people's views with out making silly assumptions.
in this case, i'm dissappointed with the assumption you're making. to assume that this person you're quoting likes the way things were "pre-1954" is not only silly, but provocative. it's easy for me to understand where a person is coming from when they debate a portion of the CRA, with out assuming they are racist, or pro-discrimination.
instead, open your mind to the slightest possibility that there are other ways to battle discrimination with out the use of the Federal Gov't.
and trust me, this goes for both sides...as i've stated before, i completely understand the fear of what would happen if the CRA never happened, or if for some reason it was appealed.
in most cases, the best way to predict the future is to study the past...and while studying the past, as it was pre-1964, one could assume that life would revert to rampid discrimination. instead, how bout we study the past as it started in 1964? people have made huge strides in racial harmony, and anti-discrimination...it would seem to me there's much to attribute to this by looking at the majority of American's who were born since 1964, and know nothing but a diverse America. i would bet there's far more American's these days that would push the beliefs behind the CRA with out the actual Act being enforced, vs. the American's who are living in the past, as it was pre-1964.
Nice try. You only have to look at the present push backward toward the US of the 1920s to see that new generations not only dont learn from the past, they reject what they do learn from it if maintaining a higher level of civilization requires some measure of altruism or even unselfishness. "In this dark march toward whatever it is we're approaching, don't... don't hang back with the brutes!"
Also, I wrote 1954 and I meant 1954. Got a history book?
What about that post above where it states that whites are not allowed into the NAACP?
Except that guy has no idea what he's talking about and his post is based on assumption not facts.
Whites have played a huge role in the NAACP since its birth. Three of its co-founders are White (Mary Ovington, Henry Moskowitz, William Walling). In fact, the only black member on the first board was W.E.B. DeBois. The first black president of the NAACP was elected in 1975.
So I have a situation for Mr. Paul, just for starters.
Black man in Mississippi has a heart attack however businesses (including hospitals which are privately owned) under Mr. Paul can refuse services to whomever they like based on the color of their skin or whatever so instead of the man going to the nearest hospital and get treated, he has to go to one 50 miles away because thats the closest one that will serve blacks. He dies because he doesn't get treated in time.
I can see that happening under this idiot because he believes it to be federal intrusion and he'll sacrifice anyone and everyone to that 200 year old piece of paper he worships.
Ron Paul deserves as much trust as the corporations he would allow to run amok in this country.........NONE!

do you reject what you learn? and yes, i have a few history books...
So I'm curious...the people defending this idiot Rand & his anti-civil rights act, are you going to continue claiming that you're not racist? You'll yammer on & on & on about the indecency of the government telling businesses they are not allowed to discriminate (all in the interest of smaller government & the constitution of course) & then cry & backpedal when someone calls you out on your racism? Can't have it both ways, you're a racist or you're not & when you defend the actions & words of someone like Rand Paul & others who think like him but "claim" they're not racist, you are indeed a racist. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, you're a duck.
Only a knee jerk, buffoon who is interested in scratching the surface would accuse the Pauls of being racist. All one has to do is look at their actions along the lines of racism. MLK is cited by Ron Paul as one of his heros. Please show me the examples of the Pauls practicing racism.
I guess if he defends the free speech of a supporter of Communism that makes him Communist.
