No. When they join the Armed Forces, they are supposed to be sworn to respect their Commander in Chief. Who do they think is paying them? Likewise, if I worked for an insurance company and was seen protesting against their policies, wouldn't I be skating on thin ice? It's like biting the hand that feeds you.

I know I'm wasting my time by posting this but:

From the article which I'm sure most people won't read before having an opinion

Quote:
Camp Pendleton spokeswoman Maj. Gabrielle Chapin said the Marine Corps is not considering filing charges and simply wanted him to be aware of the rules so he did not break them.

The Pentagon's directive states that military personnel are not allowed to write anything to solicit votes for a political cause, sponsor a political club or speak before any gathering that promotes a political movement.
and

Quote:
The local American Civil Liberties Union said in a statement Wednesday that it has sent a letter to Camp Pendleton's commanding officer urging the Marine Corps to protect Stein's right to freedom of speech.

As a Liberal, I am really hating the ACLU! They stand up for good causes, but also stand up for the rights of small minded bigots. They will NEVER get my support.

and why wouldn't they have the right? yes, as you mentioned they take an oath to respect the Commander in Chief, but I think that is more "respect the position" one doesn't have to respect the person necessarily.

No, and what Marine would publicly badmouth his commander. Funny things are that he is upset about HEALTH CARE, which he gets free from the government AND he is being represented by the ACLU. What a Phoney

Look what happened to MacArthur
