EMBARGOED for Tuesday, February 16th, 8 p.m. EST

Quote:
Dear Mr. President,
A year ago on February 17, 2009, Congress passed, and you signed, H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. In the three months prior to the Act, the nation lost 2.2 million jobs. Financial institutions were on the brink of collapse, and the “Great Recession” was being recognized for what it was – the most calamitous economic downturn since the Great Depression. You asked me to lead the implementation of the Act, with a focus on getting its efforts underway quickly, watching the taxpayers’ funds carefully, and putting America back to work. Attached is a report on the first year of our implementation efforts.

One year after the passage of the Act, we can report that approximately 2 million jobs have been created or saved thanks to the Act’s impact on hiring in the private sector, by local and state governments and by non-profits. This estimate comes from the Congressional Budget Office and is corroborated by the analysis of the Council of Economic Advisers. In January, we received more than 160,000 reports on progress from recipients of funds under the Act. These reports provided a transparent look at what was going on in projects and activities that accounted for a sample representing about 20 percent of overall spending under the Act.

Any minute we'll have saggy come along and proclaim Biden is wrong, and her calculations show that 25,000,000 jobs were created.

Hilarious!! The whole country knows what an absolute joke this is.

The latest poll shows only 6% think the stimulus has worked in creating jobs and just today we had Sen Bayh announce that the democrats haven't created one new job with their policies in the last 6 months.

Perhaps if you and others didn't help perpetuate the campaign of hate and misinformation more people would be well informed as to the actual numbers.

I wonder how many could be created or saved if we scraped NAFTA, CATFA, WTO, etc and institute tariffs, among other things. I don't believe this report at all. They have an interest to deceive the public.

The numbers are bogus. They were shown to be bogus back in Nov, when the media in various states actually CHECKED the claims by the WH and found numerous errors, non-existent districts and a host of other "problems".

Even the man that runs it couldn't verify or certify the numbers.

So exposing obama's lies and fraudulent claims is now considered hate and misinformation?

Again, the real numbers are locked in a vault at Fox News to be released at the appropriate time.

This is not based on the November report, which was corrected. That report, btw, still showed positive growth. As a matter of fact if you look at some actual analysis from a non-Partisan source you will see that the jobs trend highly favors Obama over Bush. However, I fear, somehow, you have little use for actual facts and numbers that don't support you erroneous thesis.

CHART OF THE DAY: It's Official: Obama Is Creaming Bush When It Comes To Jobs

Classic.... See, this is the problem with liberals... they read news articles and base their decisions around the article itself, without reading between the lines to see if there is more to the story.

And to think people like the OP are the ones voting for presidents like Obama! Talk about scary...
