Actually I just posted a thread about it too, where the reporter went down into the ranks to see it from the inside.

"Like all populists, tea partiers are suspicious of power and influence, and anyone who wields them. Their villain list includes the big banks; bailed-out corporations; James Cameron, whose Avatar is seen as a veiled denunciation of the U.S. military; Republican Party institutional figures they feel ignored by, such as chairman Michael Steele; colleges and universities (the more prestigious, the more evil); TheWashington Post; Anderson Cooper; and even FOX News pundits, such as Bill O'Reilly, who have heaped scorn on the tea-party movement's more militant oddballs."

Looks like they know more about it than the people polled by the Washington Post-ABC News:

"Despite the disapproval of government, few Americans say they know much about the "tea party" movement, which emerged last year and attracted voters angry at a government they thought was spending recklessly and overstepping its constitutional powers.
...
But nearly two-thirds of those polled say they know just some, very little or nothing about what the tea party movement stands for."

Poll finds most Americans are unhappy with government - washingtonpost.com

Maybe that's why Fox put up their own poll. Surely they must be surprised that so many are clueless given their position as 'news leader' and all. Not to mention the shameless shilling for the Tea Party events last summer.
Could it be that the station is on, but no one is really listening

I wonder how Fox will report their findings.

arbitrary displays of confused anger. People don't know what is going on, but they are pissed, and they need to demonstrate how pissed they are.

I have NO idea what these people are trying to say, therefore I can't rightly say I disagree with them.

I can respect differing opinions, if I feel the other person has put in the time and effort to study and understand these complex systems of government. I don't see where that is the case with these folks.

That's pretty much exactly how I feel. They don't like Obama, they don't like congress (even though many of the congresspeople were probably voted in by the people protesting...) and they don't like being taxed.

Have you seen some of the signs? People standing next to each other with contradicting signs... how about the guy that ranted about 'keeping your government hands out of my medicare'? Or those that hate socialism, but are gladly accepting social security?

I think it's just a group of disgruntled people with no real leadership or organization that have the need to get out there and vent their frustrations. Good for them! Protesting is a great way to get your point across (I can guarantee that a lot of the tea partiers have made fun of 'liberals' for protesting in the past, so it's a funny turn of events) although....maybe you should have a concrete point before doing so.

Not to pick on you but to use you as an example. Why don't you know? They have been in the media for over a year.

The reason is the media , ABC, NBC, CBS, have covered them very little and when they do they find a couple of lunatics out of thousands.

The main thrust is the government has gotten out of control. They do not represent the people any more. The government is not the answer to all our problems.

This came to a head when the health care bill was being produced behind closed doors. The so called stimulas package, the bank buy outs, etc. They want the country to be ruled more like the founders envisioned in the constitution.

Many on here blast them as only being repubs but, in fact there people from all stripes of political persuation, repubs, dems, ind, etc.

Do some research and you might be surprised.
