Interesting dichotomy. You don't believe in God. You don't believe in Hell. But you understand enough about each to hypothetically call on one in order to secure the wrath of another? Very interesting. Something tells me there's a something nagging inside you that tells you that both are real.
Is it common for you to rationalize something that you "know" is not real?
Not really, I was raised in a well meaning "christian" home, was given a good Catholic education, so I am well versed in language and verbal imagery of the bible and the church.
As for that nagging thing inside of me, it surely isn't a belief that god or anything else divine is real. What is nagging me is that I believe, like all mythology, the narratives of the Torah, the New Testament and the Koran, all provide us with real and important parables which can guide our humane treatment others. What nags me is the how those narratives are so grossly prostituted by their most ardent proponents.

Nonsense. The ability to analogize using a fictional story has no bearing on one's belief in said fictional story.
It looks to me that you're desperately trying to "rationalize" your belief by falsely and illogically attributing belief to another.
I'm saying that Pat Robertson is clearly referring to some sort of political event that caused Haiti to do what he refers to as a "pact with the Devil."
I have a sneaking suspicion that you folks believe that he belives that a "literal" pact with the Devil was made. From what I can tell, he's referring to a political event.
So yes, I want to know what political event he is referring to. I like history. I'm intelligent like that.
Yes, lending credibility to the assertions of a right wing religious nut job like Robertson takes lots of intelligence indeed. Shades of Oral Roberts.
Frankly I have to say, I'm somewhat surprised. I would have expected a tad more from you. I'll not make that mistake again.

Imagine if a dictator were able to use such mythical imagery!
And this proves that those on the left are far more upset about Robertson than terrorists how?
Good luck with that.
