I know it doesn't even make a blip on the radar of most Americans but you do have Allies AND they are currently fighting in your "War On Terror" with you.

SO I guess anyone that isn't wouldn't be considered an ALLY, right?

He would have done so undetected. UNDETECTED.

The problem is, we have very little leverage now that he has lawyered up. The next terrorist may very well land, disembark the plane, and head straight for your neighborhood.

This is no time to let up on terrorists in the name of due process.

Very true, be grateful, this clown was not successful, in his Quest for who knows what. I am happy that he was not able to carry out his extremist activities, this could have been another disaster. We put our Guard Down, for a moment with these SAVAGES, then we pay the price.

Yes, yes, let's IGNORE a "small" problem and let it grow.

And grow.

And grow.

Then it will become a BIG problem. But by then, it will be impossible to counter or contain.

People who think like this are not the sharpest tools in the shed, you know.

We are done, done, done with color-coded terror alerts. Unfortunately, these seem to have done long-term harm to certain segments of our population.

Statistics mean nothing in this particular thread. I'm asking your take on the inevitability that one day a terrorist will opt out of blowing up an airliner and instead seek out other targets. And when (not if) that happens, how do you think he/she should be treated if that person is a foreign citizen?

This terrorist could have done that easily since he was undetected.

Again, i'll ask, why are you deflecting? If you can't answer the question, just say so.
The better question is why are you bound and determined to spread irrational fear ... while insinuating that torture is a good thing ... ?

The premise behind the "statistics" is that you're more likely to be struck by lightening than you are struck by terrorists. Given that, the OP is suggesting that the extreme measures you seem to be advocating are not only an overreaction, but a line that once crossed, poses a danger to everyone's civil liberties.

Keep in mind one thing ... the anti-terorism legislation that is already law, allows anyone to be declared a terrorist, and stripped of their constitutional rights and protections ... held indefinitely, without access to a lawyer or due process. That means you too, or anyone else an over zealous government might consider a threat of any sort.

Benjamin Franklin said it best ... "those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither".
