House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) said Friday that leaders were planning to raise the nation's credit limit by at least $1.8 trillion, a much larger increase than Democrats had contemplated earlier this year. The current limit of $12.1 trillion is expected to be reached by the end of December.

The House leadership has held back the bill for weeks, saving it for this moment, but now appropriations clerks have been instructed to have a final package ready to go by Monday.

Leadership staff stressed that nothing was yet final in what has become a year-end negotiation between top Democrats in the House and Senate. But the Senate appears to have been the first to put the $1.8 trillion number on the table. And Hoyer’s comments are the clearest yet on the scale of the increase and the expectation that it will be part of a larger year-end legislative train pulled along by the must-pass military bill.

Democrats also say they plan to do it now rather than next year so they don't have to deal with it in an election year. It's not about what's best for the country, it's about what is best for them politically. They need to raise the cap to continue spending like a drunken sailor, but can't politically do it in an election year so they want to do more than they intended NOW.

Do Democrat voters not see they are being hosed by their own political leaders just so those political leaders can stay in office? Look, if you want to keep voting Democrat, throw these bums out and vote for some new ones.
