Perhaps the word "Christmas" which precedes the word "Tree" might be a bit of a clue for some that it is in fact a religious symbol.
Or not.
I agree. And as we've seen on this forum, there are a lot of people who are angry that it's become a less religious holiday; they want to emphasize the religious part of it more.
What hAs America BECOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too many races, too many religions, and too many radical loons are changing
the America way!
It's been that way since the Constitution has been written!
It is all very sad...i thought all Americans loved Christmas!
The way i see it is if you don't like what you see, then get the f$%*
out and let the rest enjoy celebration!
Now there's an attitude Jesus would love, dont'cha think?
Me thinks the Principal is a liar. Funny she does not tell us WHO the family was that made this request. I think she is a closet Republican and just wants to stir trouble up.
It's FAR more likely it was a atheist liberal who's delicate sensibilities were offended by a tree and took their typical 'do it my way' no compromise path.

I want to keep, that the tree as a celabration of the birth of my christ
I dont want my tree to be just another santi-claus symbol. with no meaning other than to use to stick presents under.
Its in my home, where I want to teach my child my traditions and ideas on faith...not leave it to someone at school... who I have no idea what their beliefs are.

huh? you could wash your car as a celebration of the birth of your christ for all the sense that makes.
as far as I know the only connection with christ a decorate tree in your home has is that part in the bible that tells you NOT TO DO IT
The moment it's referred to as a "Christmas" Tree it becomes religious regardless of its historical roots..
Or do I need to define the word "Christmas" for you?
Social idioms of reference are not dictation of fact or relevance. The fact that people started calling it a Christmas tree does not make it a religous symbol. It simply makes it a socially defined standard (often of which many non-Christians attribute connection). If such relations were accepted formation of definition, then every stereotype developed would be a formal description of its target.
Simply put, the fact that ignorant people call it such does not make it such, it merely means the people are ignorant.
