Lots of people talk about the war on drugs. They talk about how it's an utter failure, a waste of time for law enforcement, it doesn't fix the problem or slow it down at all, it puts the money from the drug business into the hands of gangs, and it makes the whole business much more dirty and corrupt. Most people these days acknowledge this these days.

I would say the same thing could be said of prostitution. Outlawing it does not do any good at all. And for all the problems I listed above related to the illicit drug trade, the same things apply to prostitution in the USA.

Most of the problems associated with prostitution are here because it is illegal. Human trafficking is mostly occuring due to the fact that prostitution is illegal and unregulated. The spread of disease is made much, much worse due to it being illegal and unregulated. The involvement of gangs is much more common due to the fact that it's illegal.....

Trying to outlaw things like drugs and prostitution is absolutely absurd if you ask me. People will never stop doing drugs, and they will never stop buying sexual services. Just legalize it.

I'm all for it. Libertarian thinking seems to be growing in the U.S., so I believe that prostitution will eventually be legal (as will same-sex marriage and non-medical marijuana use).

I am for it as well. It's about time that those horndogs pay taxes for being pleasured by random women.

What two adults do with their own bodies, for whatever reason, is between them.

Legalizing prostitution would be able to bring more immoral forms of it, like child prostitution. It would also clean things up, lowering chances of disease, and effectivly ending pimping.

Its the worlds oldest profession, it will always be a reality, it should be legalized.

If a someone 18 or older wants money for sex and someone, also 18 or orlder, wants to give them money for sex....it should NOT be illegal. I have never understood why it is.

The only restriction I would like to see kept would be a law against solicitation on the streets. Arranging meetings with clients over the phone or over the internet and meeting in a private home or hotel room should be legal.

Wow. Is this something that Republicans and Democrats can actually agree on?

I would agree that we should have an anti-cruising law which would effectively limit prostitution to over the phone or have brothels in red light districts. There should also be a law which requires regular STD screenings and the results posted for anyone to see.

No. That would be a huge violation of privacy. STD screening required? That would be fine. A client could request to see the results when meeting with the sex worker. There's no need to post the results for the whole world to see.
