It will get much higher while Gore and the special interestt rade your moeny into their pockets.
How did you feel about the Bush/Cheney special interest raid on our pocket books?
Quote:
At the root of the Cheney case is a battle between environmental groups and the Bush White House over how much influence special interests had in formulating the Administration’s proposed energy policy. The truth is that energy interests have extensive influence in the Bush Administration, and consumers are paying the price for it at the pumps.
The Bush Administration has a record of missed opportunities when it comes to developing new strategies for energy and for gas prices in our country. Instead of implementing forward-thinking energy policies to reduce our reliance on foreign oil and bring down gas prices, this Administration has instead cozied up to corporate interests, giving former lobbyists jobs at the White House and inviting industry insiders to write energy policy. The result: record energy prices for consumers
The new strategies should have been started 15-20 years ago, not during the last administration. The oil decline was known then but big $$$$ kept it under wraps.
You can't just find an "alternative" source overnight. Do you realize how much of your everyday life is dependent on oil ?
I'm in favor of regulating and taxing what is dumped into our collective atmosphere. Industry can't dump toxins into waterways, or pile waste in your back yard or along public roads. They have to pay for the proper disposal, destruction, or storage of such wastes.
If you generate waste, you should pay for it's disposal. They/we have been pumping waste gasses into the atmosphere as fast as they/we can generate them. It's time to regulate it before we have a greater "tragedy of the commons" in the atmosphere which shields us from space, insulates us from the sun, and allows us to breathe. Yes, this means your utility bill will better reflect the true cost of generating power from fossil fuels. Lower your thermostat if you don't like it. Then you can be proud of screwing the government/industry out of your hard-earned money. If you want to look at it that way.
These regulations will encourage a switch to nuclear and renewables. Something we needed to do in the '70's. It will be painful, but we're Americans, we've faced down far harder challenges.
Yet China and India are exempt among other "developing" nations ?
Unless ALL countries agree, it defeats the purpose and puts greater economic strain on those countries that implement it. It gives an unfair advantage to those developing countries as more industries will just offshore their work to escape the regulations.

I am in favor of a tax that is 10-80% of ones income based on the level of gullibility they display concerning issues that provide weak or baseless claims.
So, let us say that those who embraced AGW blindly and encouraged and supported the spread of ignorance and fraud of the issue will then pay appropriately for their support to such.
Afterall, ignorance combined with an arrogant devotion to a cause is one of the leading causes of much turmoil throughout history. This money should be put to good use.
I am contacting my congressmen now, because this is an important issue and I doubt anyone could deny the negative impact that ignorance to a cause has had on the people in the past.
Well -- the liberals should be glad when more people are made homeless, and more poor and unemployed people have their heating and lights shut off because they won't be contributing to global warming any more.
Who really thinks there is an oil shortage ?? Where do you find oil ??? Mr gov won't let you drill a lot of places . How many posting here have ever been on a drill sight ???
I have stood is one spot and counted the lights on thirteen rigs most were for gas some oil . They can flood the market with natural gas in a short short .
Hmmm. I believe the posting of foreign languages is prohibited by the ToS. But maybe they've been changed.

Ah, it's from Exxon-Mobil of the Netherlands, then. CBO seems to say that cap-and-trade will cost the average family one-fifth of one percent of after-tax income. That's a pretty small number...about $14 per month.
Bring on the taxes. It will force the velocity of the money. Then we'll see inflation..high inflation.
Forced velocity of money through taxes. The next game plan.

Jimmy Carter had us on a forward-looking national energy policy 30 years ago. Then Reagan came along and kicked it all over. Morning in America, you know. He even killed the tax credits for energy saving and use of alternative sources. One day you could call up Sears and they'd come over and install solar panels on your roof that between the tax breaks and energy savings were almost free. The next day when you called, the line had been disconnected. A whole budding US industry went down the drain.

Quite true. Only underscores the importance getting off of oil, particularly for something like transportation energy. Even if it does cost $14 per month.
