President Obama has shattered the budget record for first-year presidents -- spending nearly double what his predecessor did when he came into office and far exceeding the first-year tabs for any other U.S. president in history.
In fiscal 2009 the federal government spent $3.52 trillion -- $2.8 trillion in 2000 dollars, which sets a benchmark for comparison.
Yeah and Reagan ran the deficit into the trillions within just a few short years. How much does that translate to in 2009 dollars? I remember virtually all of the conservatives I knew back then (and I knew plenty - I was in the military then and stationed at southern bases) said we had to spend to pull ourselves out of the recession. So what's your point?

So as far as this phoney stimulous for jobs goes, my daughter just got laid off due to the decline in the companies government contracts. This is such a sham and I can't belive that 23% of the idiots in this country that think we are going in the right direction.
You do realize that a good chunk of the 09 spending was put in place prior to Obama becoming President, and about 1/3 of fiscal 09 Bush was in office....
