Yeah he could have... by not invading Iraq the government wouldn't have existed and we wouldn't be involved in that mess.

Afghanistan is a completely seperate issue.

Whereas the two governments that were overthrown were fine, upstanding examples of efficiency, transparency, and honest governance.

I can't believe anyone still thinks we invaded Iraq to "help" the Iraqi people. What a joke.

I would like to thank Bush for spending around $1 trillion dollars to accomplish it. It was worth all the money and all the innocent people dying. Mission Accomplished man.

Iraq was ruled by a dictator who did unspeakable things to his own citizens and invited the wrath of the entire world because of his destructive tendencies. Today they have elections. It may or may not last as a democracy, but I'll give W credit for believing in representative democracy enough to at least try to set people free.

Afghanistan may not embrace western-style democracy, but if we can at least leave a pro-western government, everyone will be better off in the long run.

As we have seen in Iran, the cost of doing nothing is far too high.

Using the words corrupt and government in the same sentence while referencing that part of the world is redundant. No matter who is in charge.

I don't buy that whole Bush was just introducing democracy to Iraq argument. Why not? Because why didn't he invade North Korea, they were way worse than Iraq? Maybe oil and not democracy had something to do with that. In fact the Bush regime was very friendly with a lot of dictatorships. So BS on Bush wanted democracy in Iraq. Democracy isn't born from a barrel of gun, only dictatorships are.

Both of these governments were installed by Bush.

Both of these continuing conflicts are years past their self lives. They should have been wrapped up long ago. Instead, they were mismanaged and/or neglected and now it'll be Obama's task to try to keep them from imploding. Bush has a lifelong record of mismanaging and neglecting everything he's been involved with. Iraq and Afghanistan are just the latest chapters in that story.

Apparently "hope and change" is an idea that should only be afforded Americans.
