Sorry, I don't watch Beck.

Ever since I was blackballed from Delta Chi in 1965 I've been prejudiced against guys in crewcuts.

I have the answer: the "other side" have still not grown up and think name calling, poking fun etc is the way to make friends. Remember in 5ht grade when we did the same thing?

Now you're trying to insult me by making fun of my screen name? That's really sad. I feel so sorry for you that you have to stoop to that.

I didn't say I let them do my thinking for me, I don't agree with a lot of their opinions. I do, however, like to laugh. And that episode provided a great laugh, and it really didn't have to make anything up to make Glenn Beck funny.

But then again, why would it be so bad if I let a couple of Cartoonists shape my opinions...after all, you let this pathetic shock jock shape yours. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow are all entertainers just like Parker and Stone. They bring PERSONAL OPINIONS into their programs and let them cloud the facts. Hannity lies about the numbers of protesters (by showing recycled video clips), Olbermann demonizes anyone on the right in a special segment devoted to demonizing public figures. South Park just shows the utter stupidity of it all. That the reactions people have to certain things are incredibly stupid or simply insane.

People who take Beck seriously are like the Butters character in the show, they are either naive, disturbed, dumb, desperate to fit in or are simply blind followers. I really see no reason to listen to or watch any of these pundits. I want news from neutral sources (which exist, like the AP or Reuters...which you're going to call "liberal" simply because they report facts) and I want to make my own decisions.

Remember, I am NOT a Democrat, I am a Republican. I vote for small government and Libertarian ideals. I am just an educated person who is too smart to fall for the lunacy that is Glenn Beck.

None of you have any guts or at least one would have watched Beck today just in case there was something there. Remain uninformed other than what our great President and his MSM (lamestream media) want you to know and some of you are probably young enough to be enslaved some day.

Just this evening I read a link from a man talking about having a young man, early 30s, ask him what is wrong with socialism. It was agreed there that those under 40 really don't know and they never will until it is too late. I know what you were taught in high school and in college that has thrown you off the scent, but I don't think there is any way to enlist many, if any, of you in the saving of this nation that once was so great.
How is Beck not "mainstream media"?
Isn't Fox News the #1 Cable News Network in terms of ratings?
Isn't the #1 Network automatically in the main stream because it's the one that is most watched?
Isn't Fox News a Media Network?

Therefore, Glenn Beck is a MAJOR part of the Mainstream Media.

Let me ask you this...you keep talking about how we who don't watch Beck (I've seen enough to know that he's an idiot without any credibility), but do you even know what Socialism looks like? Have you ever been to a Socialist country?

I've been to Cuba, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, The Slovak Republic, Sweden, Norway and Denmark...they all show different kinds of Socialism. Some are incredibly successful countries, some escaped the clutches of what you consider "socialism" but which is really "Stalinism". People don't want to make this country like Soviet Russia or Cuba, they want to make it like Norway or Sweden. Personally I think it's foolish to think that our country can do that, and I believe we need far more State-based autonomy and decentralization in order for any kind of "socialism" to be successful in America. That's why I didn't vote for Obama and why I wont vote for him in 2012. Not because my hero Glenn Beck rants about how we're turning into Soviet Russia and how Obama is Hitler...

I was testing you to see if you had a sense of humor. You failed.

I like to laugh, too. But the whole idea of a man (Beck) being piled on, nearly universally, by a large chunk of the lapdog media, because he happens to disagree with the Administration, is a little frightening to anyone who believes in our democracy, and specifically in its First Amendment guarantees.

Or doesn't the specter of the press/media as protector of the establishment and the majority bother you?

I follow none of the names you mention. My opinions are my own, as you would discover if you knew anything about this forum. But I would call your attention to the fact that Fox stands alone in its criticism of the current adminstration. For that reason alone, it deserves to be vigorously defended --especially by those of us who value the rights of the minority and the absolute necessity for those in power to be held to account. The South Parks, the Jon Stewarts, the Stephen Colberts -- all share a homogeneous loathing for anything to the right of Lenin and a touching tenderness toward the majority party and its stranglehold on both houses of Congress, the Presidency, and the Supreme Court. You may find that entertaining. I find it cowardly and sycophantic.

So NOTHING that Beck says could ever have any truth or appropriateness to the national debate? And everyone who watches him is somehow mentally ill or deficient? Perhaps you feel he should be silenced, and his viwers disenfranchised? Call me a wingnut, but to my mind, that is not a healthy attitude in someone who professses to believe in the value of independent thought...

I don't care what you call yourself. Besides, I was under the impression that labels were not important to you. If you wish, however, feel free to characterize me as a person who gives the necessarily simplified exaggerations of graphic artists just as much respect as they deserve -- and who considers opinion-makers who toe the party line and work to ridicule dissent both cowards and wastrels of their constitutional rights.

Beck is very extreme. I think he's paranoid to a fault though he does bring up some valid points now and then. It's just hard to sort through the paranoia. I have tried to watch his show but I have not been able to sit through the whole thing yet. I think he does more good than harm as he gets the sheeple thinking about things that otherwise would have escaped them. The fact that Obama's bunch hate him makes me happy too.

Or they have and you people are just too blind to FACTS to actually see it. See my post in response to that post to show you the facts.

The guys from South Park AREN'T LIBERALS. They've been quoted as saying "I [MOD CUT/language] hate liberals".

Again, KNOWING SOMETHING about your argument really helps to keep you from looking like a rambling fool. All you just showed to us with that statement is that you don't read the threads fully and you don't really look at facts before you try to make an argument. Think this is the first time you've jumped to a false conclusion without knowing the facts? Think again...

South Park has whole episodes devoted to hippie extermination. They're not liberal or conservative. They just make fun of whatever is current. Doesn't anyone remember all the righties posting about their Prius episode?
