I have owned 4 Toyotas and currently own 2. Flawless vehicles.
I did have a ford ranger with that problem. Took them 3 attempts to repair the problem even though it was under a recall.

The only rationale i can make of your post is that, in fact, you're a Toyota worker. Otherwise, it's an absurb post, nonetheless.

There's been cases where people report stepping on the brake to no avail.

But,
The U.S. Department of Transportation released a statement Tuesday afternoon saying the matter "is not closed."
I understand that Toyota has said that interference with the driver's side floor mat is the cause, but I'm not convinced. Toyota is recalling 3.8 million cars for this problem.

The article states: "Toyota has written to vehicle owners stating that it has decided that a safety defect exists in their vehicles and asking owners to remove all floor mats while the company is developing a remedy."

From another article: "Until Toyota figures it out, lose the mats if you own a 2007-10 Camry, 2005-10 Avalon; 2004-09 Prius; 2005-10 Tacoma; 2007-10 Tundra; 2007-10 ES 350; and 2006-10 IS 250 or IS 350."
Yeah, an automaker doesn't just recall 3.8 million vehicles due to a faulty or suspect floormat. Knowing what i know in the auto industry, image is the gold-bar. Toyota is doing damage control in the name of image, which they have been known to do quite well.

I remember the hatchet job Sixty Minutes did on Audi, there were were those who claimed unintended acceleration that was later traced to hittng the wrong pedal. AFAIK no manufacturer is using a 'brake by wire' system, in times of panic you have to wonder what pedal was actually stepped on/

I had a Ford Thunderbird with that problem in the 90's. You would be at a dead stop with foot totally on the brake and it would be trying to accelerate!

Once I got caught suddenly accelerating over 100 miles an hour; I used the "factory defect" excuse too, but the cop didn't buy it.

I took it in right away and it took at least 2 visits that I can remember to fix it. The car would lurch forward when I released the brake and idled really high. It was scary!
